This role involves leading coverage of the Florida State Capitol, managing a team of reporters, and ensuring high-quality news content for subscribers.

Responsibilities

Set the daily and weekly news agenda, prioritizing stories that provide the most value to our specialized subscriber base
Top-edit all copy for accuracy, tone, and legal risk, ensuring every story is 'wire-ready' for our syndication partners
Lead and recruit a talented team of reporters
Oversee the workflow of the 60-day legislative session, managing gavel-to-gavel coverage and budget-related news
Act as a liaison for key stakeholders, ensuring our coverage meets the professional needs of our paid subscribers
Moderate and emcee events as needed

Qualification

Editorial leadershipJournalism experienceLegislative processHigh-volume newsroom managementTeam recruitmentEvent moderation

Required

8+ years in journalism, with at least 3 years in an editorial leadership role
Deep understanding of Florida's legislative process, state agencies and political landscape
Proven ability to manage a high-volume newsroom under strict deadlines
