The State of South Dakota is seeking a Park Manager to provide assistance to the District Park Supervisor and lead a team in managing park operations. Responsibilities

Provide assistance to the District Park Supervisor by functioning as a team leader over a Conservation Technician, seasonal employees, and park volunteers that work at West Whitlock and Swan Creek Recreation Areas as well as surrounding Lakeside Use Areas and Public Water Accesses
Coordinating campground reservations
Collecting and auditing the parks revenue and expenses
Compiling information for monthly reports
Point of contact for park users
Assist in carrying out the business of the park
Facilitate outdoor educational programs for park users of all ages
Develop community and business relationships
Perform maintenance and janitorial of the park facilities
Assist in the daily maintenance of the park grounds, boat ramps, and wildlands

Required

Commercial Applicators license is required within 90 days of hire
Ability to utilize an online reservation system and other website based platforms
Ability to use Microsoft office
Ability to operate Point of Sale system
Ability to perform accounting tasks needed for managing park revenue and expenses
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to perform duties and responsibilities independently within established policies and procedures
Ability to direct and oversee the recruitment, training, and supervision of full-time, seasonal and volunteer staff
Ability to work with the general public, park users, and community members
Ability to work in a typical office environment and outdoors in all types of weather and conditions
Ability to work a schedule that is in the best interest of the park, including weekends during the summer months

Preferred

CDL, with tanker endorsement, is preferred and may be required if need arises
A 4-year B.S. or B.A. degree in Park and Recreation Management or an associated field of study is preferred
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of parks/recreation management
Knowledge of office procedures
Knowledge of purchasing and inventory procedures, voucher processing, bank deposits, and other fiscal operating procedures
Knowledge of grounds/facility maintenance, small and large equipment operation
Noxious weed control and heavy equipment operation knowledge preferred
