Billing and Records Supervisor
Volunteers of America Los Angeles is a non-profit human services organization committed to serving people in need. Responsibilities
Review all billing claims
Oversee billing rejections from funders to ensure program billers correct errors in appropriate and timely manner
Identify and resolve any technical and reporting issues
Train program staff on billing procedures
Oversee billers and program staff to ensure proper billing procedures and deadlines are met
Develop, modify and implement billing procedures and related CQI procedures as needed
Run regular progress and related reports as required by Leadership and Accounting
Develop trainings, resources, and templates for program staff and leaders
Develop process maps and workflows to aid program staff in overall job performance
Conduct ongoing meetings with program leaders to discuss program performance
Conduct ongoing workshops with program staff on billing best practices
Department liaison for all Payer and third-party communication and needs
System and agency administrator for Billing and Clearinghouse systems
Oversee all updates and maintenance of billing portals
Ensures all internal tracking and storage systems have accurate and up-to-date records
Provide direct mentorship and training to Billing and Records team
Oversee Billing and Record Reviewers’ performance of the continuous quality improvement procedures with their assigned VOALA Programs
Monitors all teams’ internal audits, external audits, and program support
Provides back-up support as needed
Flags programs that have not met CQI standard
Other duties as may be assigned by CQI Director
Creates, manages, reviews and monitors Program and VOALA-wide policies, procedures, handbook, documents, and practices working with QA team, HR, and external legal counsel to ensure all are legally compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations for VOALA, SCADP, and affiliates
Maintains Policy documents and consent forms
Coordinates with stakeholders, and ensures policy documents are approved and disseminated
Is a resource for stakeholders when interpreting policy documents

Qualification
Required
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
Valid California driver license and access to dependable transportation with adequate insurance
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience (4 years of relevant experience / coursework)
3 years of experience in Electronic Health Record database operations and/or billing submissions
3 years of experience in data-driven and/or quality assurance environment
Experience with nonprofit organizations
Experience with Medi-Cal programs
