Development Technician
Corning Incorporated is one of the world’s leading innovators in glass, ceramic, and materials science. They are seeking a Development Technician to support new ion exchange development programs and manage sample flow through mechanical property evaluation and product qualification.

Responsibilities
Sample prep for testing and assist with coordination of sample flow for DOEs, product qualification, and fundamental understanding
Perform stress measurements, frangibility tests on glass samples, and glass analysis/inspections/processing pre and post ion exchange
Support scientists with generating requests for glass processing and testing
Sample submission for testing, tracking and compilation of data
Create and maintain spreadsheets for data, inventory, shipping, sample processing etc
Generate/maintain documentation (Period reports, SOPs, safety documents, 5S.)
Understanding onsite and offsite storage logistics to be able to send and retrieve items as needed
Participate on development project teams
Qualification
Required
Minimum of an bachelor's degree in science or related technical field
Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and organized
Ability to relate and track Quality Control specifications to process glass data
Organized with good planning and time management skills
Ability to execute and track detailed DOEs, analyze and relate metrology results to process conditions
Experience in collecting and compiling measurements using lab equipment such as precision balances and collaborating with characterization science resources
Ability to utilize detailed tracking systems for samples
Excellent documentation and communication skills (verbal and written)
Self-motivated and able to work with limited day-to-day guidance
Ability to track multiple workstreams and work in a fast-paced environment under stringent deadlines
Ability to work and collaborate effectively across cultures
Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite)
Comfortable working with personnel at different levels (scientists, engineers, subject matter experts)
Preferred
Background in chemical handling, ion exchange, or material science preferred
