Human Resources Business Partner
Crucial Hire is partnered with a well-established organization seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support a complex, unionized workforce. This role serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, focusing on labor relations, employee relations, and strategic HR execution to align people strategies with operational objectives.
Responsibilities
Partner with leaders to align HR strategies with business goals and workforce needs
Develop a strong understanding of the organization’s structure, operations, and employee population
Provide guidance on organizational design, workforce planning, performance management, and change initiatives
Serve as the primary HR point of contact for a unionized employee population
Support labor relations activities, including contract administration and interpretation
Assist with collective bargaining preparation and negotiations as needed
Ensure consistent and compliant application of labor agreements, policies, and procedures
Manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective actions
Advise leaders on employment policies and compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws
Provide guidance on compensation decisions, job evaluations, and wage and hour compliance
Coach leaders on performance management, employee development, and engagement
Identify training and development needs and partner on solutions to strengthen leadership capability
Promote continuous improvement across HR programs and practices
Analyze workforce data including headcount, turnover, open positions, and payroll trends
Use data-driven insights to support operational and financial decision-making
Collaborate with internal partners to ensure data accuracy and governance
Partner with HR colleagues to ensure alignment and consistency across HR programs
Participate in cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives
Support special assignments based on organizational needs
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
8+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, with required experience supporting a unionized workforce
Strong background in labor relations and employee relations within a complex organization
Proven ability to influence leaders and operate effectively at senior levels
Excellent communication, relationship-building, and facilitation skills
Highly organized, analytical, and comfortable navigating ambiguity
Proficiency with HRIS systems, workforce analytics, and Microsoft Office tools
Adaptable and resilient in a changing business environment
Preferred
HR certification(s) a plus
