Virtual Design Modeler
Harris is one of the country's leading mechanical contractors, seeking a Virtual Design Modeler to assist the Associate Architect in facilitating an efficient design process. The role involves producing detailed constructible design drawings, conducting collision detection, and developing 3D BIM models to support complex design projects.

Responsibilities
Contribute with digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of a building or facility
Conduct collision detection across multiple disciplines
Grow skills in modeling for production of walk-through videos
Expand knowledge in using BIM Technology to support in optimizing designs for client requirements to the appropriate levels of development (LOD)
Develop 3D BIM models up to an LOD 400, or as needed, for handover to construction and fabrication teams
Work with BIM-VDC teams to facilitate the best flow of information and the setting up of models to support delivery
Grow skills in developing the 4D and 5D functionality to analyze different construction sequences and techniques to optimize cost and schedule
Support preparing BIM models for use in other software, such as programs for fluid flow analysis or energy modeling
Expand experience with a range of software (Autodesk, Bentley, SketchUp etc.)
Grow 3D modeling skills for piping, plumbing and/or ductwork systems in compliance with building codes, construction standards, contract documents, and instructions from the project leadership
Route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems
Show all components and systems
Overlay piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork systems with other trades
Re-route piping, plumbing, and/or ductwork as required
Contribute to the producing sign-off record drawings
Contribute with the Model management
Other duties and tasks as assigned
Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in BIM, Architecture, or Engineering
4+ years of Drafting/Design in the Construction Industry (or experience gained through school projects)
Proficient understanding of Revit, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fabrication, or Navisworks
Working knowledge of construction practices with emphasis on mechanical systems
Knowledge of building codes for plumbing and piping industries
Ability to integrate with Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Software
Preferred
Revit and Autodesk certifications
