Responsibilities

Ensures compliance with EPA, NYSDEC, OSHA and other applicable regulatory agencies
Lead deployment of safety programs and initiatives to manage high risk activities and reduce injuries
Provides direction for various groups including contractors and operations to maintain environmental and safety compliance
Identify and assess EH&S risks and develop strategies and initiatives to promote continuous improvement
Implement corporate safety and environmental policies and requirements
Works to ensure that the facility remains current in all reporting requirements to corporate, state, local and federal agencies
Participate with review of capital projects and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements
Conducts frequent EH&S inspections and work with affected groups to implement corrective actions
Implement changes to procedures or new procedures as needed which affect environmental and safety compliance programs
Conduct investigations for environmental events and safety incidents to determine root cause and develop appropriate corrective actions
Assist with training delivery for required environmental and safety compliance training

Required

B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Physical Sciences, or related technical field
3 years+ of experience in EH&S activities/responsibilities
Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulatory programs
Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory compliance requirements to all levels
Strong written and oral communications skills
Ability to independently perform work
Knowledge and experience in State (preferably NYS DEC), EPA, and OSHA and requirements
Self directed and demonstrates the ability to manage multiple tasks
Problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Preferred

Experience with Quality/PEx utilizing Six Sigma DMAIC approach
EPA RCRA Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous Materials Trained/Certified
