Sr Technology & Training Spec
NWEA, a division of Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, supports educational communities through assessment solutions and professional learning. The Senior Technology and Training Specialist will serve as a technical liaison for the Scoring Operations Team, managing technology requests and training processes while ensuring effective training and documentation deliverables.
Responsibilities
Serves as the recognized technology expert within and outside the organization
Leads logistical efforts in arranging audio visual or computer equipment/software, according to established budgets
Ensures seasonal staff has appropriate credentials, materials, tools, and equipment
Demonstrates expertise in a variety of work processes through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience
Provides strategic consulting in all aspects related to technical training, readiness, and sustainability
Plans and schedules according to project deadlines
Identifies, develops, and codes material documentation needed for human scoring, including templates, style guidelines, and training documentation
Drives and/or designs and develops content including technical documentation, manuals, quick reference guides, webinars, short videos, eLearning modules for implementation of tools working with Specialists and Scoring Directors to update content on an ongoing basis
Plans, designs, develops, and delivers strategic training and instructional programs, using instructor-led, train-the-trainer, electronic/web-based, and/or multimedia training methods and formats
Serves as a multi-functional back-up for all individual contributor roles on the team, including content material development, facilitation, and management
Utilizes ability to analyze and evaluate all aspects of project process
Recommends and/or implements innovative solutions, modifications and enhancements to technology processes with full discretion to act
Evaluates effectiveness of training and development programs, utilizing appropriate data collection instruments and procedures
Solves for unique and complex problems or risks that have impact on schedules or budgets
Works autonomously within established procedures and practices
Can act as a Lead and coordinate the work of others
Leads project teams of seasonal staff to achieve milestones and objectives
Anticipates internal or external business challenges/regulatory issues
Contributes to development of functional strategy
Interacts with internal and external stakeholders
Creates networks with key decision makers in Operations, Technology, Assessment Design and Psychometrics, Publishing, and Program Management
Advises partners on technology-related topics and processes
Qualification
Required
Ability to manage and organize data using platforms such as SharePoint
Bachelor's degree (BA or BS)
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related applications
Technical skills to support and work within a virtual scoring environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects with demonstrated organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage one's own schedule
Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills
Ability to work effectively with remote team members in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Knowledge of the K–12 educational assessment industry, including Common Core standards, competitors, and the RFP process
Experience in scoring leadership roles, preferably as a Team Leader or Scoring Director
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a Scoring Services role
Experience in the education or assessment industry
Basic coding skills
