Responsibilities

Conforms to cost and time considerations estimated for the product
Calculate GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)parameters
Prepare drawings, Work Instructions and additional technical documents as required within the OCC quality assurance policy and procedure
Assist manufacturing through designing tooling, test, and assembly fixtures as required
Perform physical testing of products to validate design requirements
Assist in ECO/ECN processing
Support product, change management and customer inquiries during product life cycle
Identify and select materials for production and create bills of materials (BOM)
Maintains documentation for ISO requirements
Promotes OCC’s service excellence and quality
Provides excellent service to customers; builds strong relationships and team cohesiveness; focuses on quality and positive solutions; communicates respectfully; demonstrates compassion and understanding in response to customer request/needs
Champions OCC’s vision and values (•as outlined in the 15 Essential Point of Success•); complies with policies and procedures, ethical standards and Code of Conduct
Respond to the finance team’s request for information in a timely and accurate manner

Required

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years of experience or Masters and 2+ years of experience
Proficiency in CAD (3D modelling) and a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, materials and processes
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in using all MS-Office products
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with other engineers and production staff
Critical thinking and creativity to solve design and production challenges
Analyze test results to improve designs
Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision
Ability to manage projects and schedules related to design and manufacturing
Use precision measurement tools and devices such as Optical Light Source, Power Meters, Network Analyzers, Time Domain Reflectometers
Must adhere to ISO, SOX and engineering standards

Preferred

Prior experience in Fiber Optic Connector Design preferred
Experience using an ERP system such as Syspro preferred
