Responsibilities

Advising clients on complex environmental and regulatory matters in Connecticut, including environmental transactions and due diligence, regulatory compliance and enforcement, permitting, site remediation, state environmental regulations across all media, and risk mitigation related to real estate development and business transactions
Managing matters independently and proactively, including anticipating client needs and managing deadlines and deliverables with minimal supervision
Conducting legal research and providing technical, project management, and client service skills
Engaging with environmental regulatory bodies, including the Connecticut Siting Council, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers

Required

At least four years of environmental law experience
Demonstrated experience advising clients on complex environmental and regulatory matters in Connecticut
Experience with environmental transactions and due diligence
Experience with regulatory compliance and enforcement
Experience with permitting
Experience with site remediation
Experience with state environmental regulations across all media
Experience with risk mitigation related to real estate development and business transactions
Excellent legal research skills
Excellent technical skills

Excellent client service skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to independently and proactively manage matters
Ability to anticipate client needs and manage deadlines and deliverables with minimal supervision

Admission to practice law in Connecticut
Graduation from law school and practice experience

Preferred

Experience with environmental administrative proceedings, litigation, and enforcement matters before state, federal, and local environmental regulatory agencies
Experience with key federal environmental, health, and safety statutes and regulations
Experience with emerging contaminants and evolving regulatory standards
Experience with Massachusetts and New York state requirements
Experience with international chemical regulation and remedial obligations
Engagement with environmental regulatory bodies, including the Connecticut Siting Council, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the United States Army Corps of Engineers
Dual admission in New York and/or Massachusetts
