City of Plymouth is seeking an Engineering Intern to assist with municipal public works projects under the direction of a public works manager. The role involves providing customer service, supporting survey work, inspecting construction sites, and preparing construction estimates.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in a manner that inspires professionalism, strong communication, team building and alignment with city values

Support the department’s survey work, construction documentation, and construction staking

Support the project payment application process, including, but not limited to, measuring and quantifying work performed by the contractor

Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and construction and safety standards

Perform traffic counts and assist with traffic data

Prepare estimates of construction costs

Work with computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare documents

Facilitate document creation and review using Word, Excel, PowerPoint and/or other programs

Inform supervisor promptly of significant developments in areas of accountability

Assist with the scoping and data collection for future projects

Perform other work as apparent or assigned

Required

Currently enrolled in college or have recently completed a bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, construction management, or a related field

A valid Class D driver's license with satisfactory driving record

Demonstrated ability to perform in accordance with the City of Plymouth's CIVIC values (customer focus, integrity, visionary, inclusion and connection) and comfort with supporting and advancing the city council's strategic priorities
