Info Resources Assistant Sr

Responsibilities
Provide initial assistance to Asia Library patrons by providing directional information, support for using online catalogs, databases, and web pages; refer onsite users, online users, and telephone callers to subject librarians for in-depth consultations; assist patrons of the Oka Tadoku Room
Collaborate with subject specialists, providing collection assistance to visiting scholars
Fulfill Interlibrary Loan requests, retrieving books and journals with East Asian-language articles in print and online and identifying pagination
Assist with Asia Library exhibits
Assist Asia Library subject specialists on instruction, upon request
Assist librarians and other faculty by preparing Asia Library information and collection materials for lectures and workshops
Organize backlogs of newly acquired materials and help with managing historical backlogs
Prepare materials for cataloging outsourcing
Partner with the Stacks Office to ensure efficient resolution of issues
Be the Asia Library liaison to units such as Facilities, Circulation, and Preservation
Oversee the Asia Library Main Office space and support the Asia Library's daily operations and productivity
Provide assistance in the preparation and execution of Asia Library programs and events
Attend department meetings, Division meetings, library-wide meetings, appropriate staff development workshops, and other professional development opportunities
Qualification
Required
Professional proficiency in English and one of the following East Asian languages: Chinese, Japanese, or Korean
Demonstrated service-oriented attitude with multiple partner groups
Demonstrated problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills
Excellent written and communication (oral, listening and speaking) skills
Proven ability to prioritize, take initiative, and perform collaborative and independent work
Proficiency in computer-based applications such as Google, Word, and PowerPoint
