Responsibilities

Shop Auditing - Travel to various railcar repair facilities within North America ad conduct audits to our repair instructions and procedures. Evaluate proposed new repair facilities to be included in our shop network. Ensure that shops are capable of providing high-quality repairs that meet all federal and AAR regulations
Railcar Inspections - Perform other ad-hoc individual car inspections on both tank and freight cars periodically and as needed
Repair Procedures - Write and revise repair procedures, qualification procedures, and other repair instructions as needed and ensure that all written instructions comply with federal and AAR regulations
Required Documentation - Ensure shop documentation and reports submitted by railcar repair facilities are adequate and meet all regulatory and company standards

Required

Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Railroad Industry Knowledge and Regulations
High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Mechanical Engineering, Railroad Industry Knowledge and Regulations
Willingness to travel
Strong knowledge base of various types of rail cars and the regulations that they must meet
Proficient knowledge of AAR, DOT, and Transport Canada (TC) regulations
Effective understanding of the implications of regulations for rail business operations
