Scion Legal is leading a search on behalf of a respected California based law firm seeking a seasoned Employment Law Partner. The role involves representing school districts, advising public sector clients, and managing sophisticated employment law matters within a collaborative practice.

Responsibilities

10+ years of employment law experience with an exclusive defense side focus
Minimum 8+ years of school district defense experience at a senior associate or partner level
Well established background in employment litigation defense, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour matters
Strong experience with employment law compliance, including wage and hour audits
Hands on experience drafting and advising on employee handbooks, workplace policies, and compliance documentation
Demonstrated experience advising school boards, superintendents, and HR leadership
Required experience defending school districts and educational institutions
Excellent legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
Commitment to proactive, efficient, and strategic case management
Active membership in the State Bar of California in good standing
At least 80 percent of practice focused on employment law litigation defense over the past five years. Plaintiff side employment experience will not be considered for this role

At least 80 percent of practice focused on employment law litigation defense over the past five years. Plaintiff side employment experience will not be considered for this role

Preferred

Civil trial experience as first or second chair
Experience with public entity defense beyond school districts
Ability to manage complex, high stakes matters while maintaining attention to detail
Strategic mindset with a client service oriented approach
