Responsibilities
Responsible for reporting accurate results, evaluating results for clinical significance and validity, and for recognition of atypical/abnormal results requiring additional follow up
Ensures quality control is acceptable and instrumentation is functioning and maintained within defined tolerance limits and documentation is completed
Consciously works to minimize errors and takes responsibility for correcting and documenting errors in a timely manner
Performs all laboratory functions according to standard operating procedures and guidelines established by regulatory agencies, including participation in proficiency testing and familiarization with regulations and quality indicators
Troubleshoots equipment and assay performance when results are questionable
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution
Meeting one of the other requirements set by the ASCP Board of Certification may be accepted in lieu of degree
Preferred
Previous Laboratory And/or Sample Processing Experience
