Enterprise Cloud Architect

Relay Resources is executing a multi-year enterprise transformation centered on ERP modernization and the creation of a governed, analytics-ready Enterprise Data Ecosystem built on Microsoft Azure. The Enterprise Azure Cloud Architect & DevOps Lead will be responsible for designing, securing, and operating the Azure foundation that supports various operational systems and analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

Architect and own Relay’s Azure-first enterprise cloud platform, aligned to:
ERP & HRIS modernization
Enterprise Data Ecosystem (ADF, Fabric, Power BI, Purview)
Security, privacy, and compliance requirements
Define and maintain reference architectures for:
Networking, identity, environments (dev/test/prod)
Integration and data movement
Monitoring, logging, and resilience
Serve as the final architectural authority for Azure-based decisions
Own cloud DevOps strategy and execution, including:
CI/CD pipelines (IaC, automation, configuration drift prevention)
Environment provisioning and lifecycle management
Release and deployment standards
Implement Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep/Terraform/ARM) across Azure services
Ensure platform stability, scalability, and repeatability
Own Azure identity architecture, including:
Entra ID / Azure AD
Conditional Access, MFA, Zero Trust segmentation
Identity integration across SaaS platforms
Partner with Security (internal + Allendevaux) to:
Implement Defender, Sentinel, logging, and alerting
Enforce data protection and access controls
Implement governance frameworks:
Subscription management
Cost controls, tagging, budgets
Policy enforcement and guardrails
Architect and operate Azure services supporting:
Azure Data Factory (ETL/ELT)
Microsoft Fabric / Synapse
Power BI
Purview (data governance, lineage, classification)
Define integration patterns across:
NetSuite, UKG Pro, Salesforce
Operational platforms (JOS, Nulogy, Yardi)
Banking and external partners
Ensure data movement is secure, observable, and auditable
Lead migration away from:
On-prem virtualization and legacy hosting
Hybrid AD dependencies
Legacy file systems and permission models
Modernize:
Backup and disaster recovery (cloud-native, immutable)
Networking, VPN, segmentation
Collaboration platforms (M365, SharePoint, OneDrive)
Own decommissioning strategy for retired systems and infrastructure
Establish cloud operational excellence:
Monitoring, alerting, incident response
SRE-style reliability practices
Own Azure cost optimization:
Usage governance
Budget forecasting
Rightsizing and efficiency
Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for critical platforms
Mentor and upskill Systems Administrators and platform engineers
Establish clear documentation, runbooks, and architectural standards
Partner closely with:
Director of Product / Program Management
Process Engineers
Data Architect
Act as a trusted technical advisor to the CTO on:
Cloud strategy
Risk
Long-term innovation

Required

10+ years in cloud architecture, platform engineering, or enterprise infrastructure roles
Deep, hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure
Proven experience migrating from on-prem to cloud
Proven experience operating cloud platforms at enterprise scale
Strong expertise in Entra ID / Azure AD
Strong expertise in Azure networking
Strong expertise in Defender, Sentinel, cloud security
Strong expertise in DevOps & automation
Strong expertise in cost management and governance
Experience supporting ERP, HRIS, CRM, and data platforms
Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred

Experience in regulated or compliance-heavy environments
Experience supporting data platforms and analytics
Azure certifications (Solutions Architect, Security Engineer)
Experience building platforms that support product or innovation teams
