Executive Director of Campus Experience

Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) is seeking an Executive Director of Campus Experience to shape and implement innovative learning experiences. This role involves providing strategic leadership to foster a vibrant campus culture and ensuring a supportive living and learning environment for students.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership and vision for the student experience outside the academic classroom, fostering a vibrant, inclusive, and supportive campus culture
In collaboration with the Chief Student Affairs Officer, advance the IMSA strategic plan Vision 2033 initiatives, specifically related to Reinventing Residence Life
Serve as a leader within the Academy, moving the mission, vision and values of the Academy forward by providing guidance, setting goals, ensuring trust and accountability and exhibiting the highest standards of behavior at the Academy
This may include leading special projects within the division of Student Affairs as well as serve as the representative for Student Affairs in Academy-wide projects, initiatives, and committees
Foster partnerships across departments to align goals, share resources, and address student needs comprehensively
Collaborate with the Dean of Student Support and Equity to foster a comprehensive learning experience for students inside and outside the classroom
As assigned, serve as the instructor of record for dual credit courses in Student Affairs
Serve as a visible, accessible, and approachable presence in the student community, modeling engagement and IMSA values
Design, implement, and assess campus experience programs that align with the IMSA’s mission to develop the whole student—intellectually, emotionally, socially, and ethically, including content research, development and implementation aligned with current educational trends and student needs, and informed by student development theory
Champion student leadership development through intentional programming, mentorship, and opportunities for student voice and agency
Oversee the planning and execution of campus events and traditions that build community and IMSA spirit
Lead assessment efforts to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of campus experience programs, using data to inform improvements
Initiatives include student and parent surveys, benchmarking best practices, and reports detailing the impact of the team’s work
Maintain knowledge and understanding of best practices and emerging Student Affairs trends in secondary and higher education, gifted student learning, student residential experience, state-level athletics guidelines, and social-emotional learning
Assist with divisional and campus-wide events including, but not limited to Summer Orientation, Preview Day, Convocation, and Graduation
Supervise and support the leaders of the Residence Life department, Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities, and Student Engagement department
Provide overall leadership of the Residence Life Department with direct supervision of the Residence Life Leadership Team and Day Hall Monitors and oversight of the additional 28 Resident Counselors
Supervise the Coordinator of Athletics and Co-Curricular Activities who oversees the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of 30+ interscholastic athletic coaches and 15 co-curricular coaches/sponsors for extra-curricular activities programs annually
Supervise the Coordinator of Student Leadership and Service who oversees the Leadership, Education and Development (LEAD) and the Service Learning graduation requirements
Support and uphold policies and practices that promote student well-being, safety, and belonging in residential and extracurricular settings
Develop and manage budgets for all areas of supervision, ensuring responsible and mission-aligned allocation of resources
Maintain up-to-date budget records and submit budget-related paperwork in a timely manner

Required

Master's degree in college student personnel, higher education administration or related field required
Minimum seven years of experience hiring, training and evaluating professional staff
Minimum of seven years professional experience working in residential life and/or higher education
Demonstrated crisis management skills and ability to respond to emergency situations requiring the use of stairs, quick movement, and administration of first aid/CPR
Effective oral and written communication skills
Comfortable using technology to communicate and increase efficiency including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Business Suite
Experience in the area of diversity, equity and inclusion to provide culturally competent training for Residence Life staff
Strong service orientation and ability to relate effectively with diverse individuals and groups at all levels of the organization
Demonstrated ability to be productive, deliver high quality work, take initiative, use good judgement, and problem solve
Ability and willingness to work irregular hours
Valid driver's license
