Customer Service and Circulation Assistant

Responsibilities

Oversee Circulation Services -
Maintain circulation desk functions including charging/discharging materials, processing reserves, overseeing patron accounts, receiving monies for fees, and ensuring policy adherence
Supervise Student Workers -
Liaison with financial aid to identify student workers; make hiring recommendations of student workers
Create schedules, train, supervise, approve time sheets, and evaluate student workers
Collection Maintenance -
Supervise shelving and shelf-reading and other collection maintenance activities
Assist with collection retrieval and inventory
Administrative and Clerical Support -
Open and close the library facility as scheduled and secure Classroom 127 between classes
Perform routine clerical duties such as answer phones and maintain lists and schedules
Collect and compile statistical data and submit various circulation related reports
Ensure furniture and equipment located in the public areas are in good order including monitoring for leaks and other building deficiencies
Perform Other Duties -
Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Customer Service and Marketing -
Provide excellent customer service to library students, faculty, staff, and other patrons
Communicate effectively with patrons to locate materials, answer basic information and reference questions, advise library policies, and assist in the use of printers and photocopiers
Monitor public areas for usage, activity, and acceptable conduct and assist with customer issues and concerns
Create library displays, bulletin boards and signage; assist with library events and activities

Required

Associate's Degree or two years of experience as a library assistant or equivalent combination of education and experience
Strong computer skills
Customer Service experience

Experience with automated library systems
Experience working in an academic library
Supervisory experience
