Manage several data visualization reporters already on staff
Work on their own stories as well
Work closely with the Chronicle’s design team
Collaborate with the Hearst Devhub
Provide utility to the readers and communities served
Offer exciting data visualizations and graphics that delight and inform readers
Be a self-starter who works quickly
Provide and take feedback
Commit to inclusive journalism
Own the stories that matter most
Qualification
Required
Experienced journalist
Strong graphics-focused, front-end web development skills
Interest in managing and developing people
Proven track record in story development and collaboration
Strong data manipulation and analysis skills
Self-starter who works quickly
Comfortable providing and taking feedback
Committed to inclusive journalism
Willing to relocate to San Francisco
Ability to work in a hybrid workplace, expected to be in the office three days a week
