Responsibilities

Support portions of licensing activities (certifications, permits, approvals, and licenses associated with reactor technologies) and ensure milestones are met as agreed with the U.S. NRC
Provide licensing support to engineers in developing technical requirements that will ensure compliance with NRC regulations and guidance
Support scope development of the annual regulatory engagement plan, lead regulatory audits and responses to RAI’s (Requests for Additional Information)
Develop licensing content to support portions of Safety Analysis Reports and licensing applications
Support planning and executing the X-energy licensing strategy
Develop regulatory white papers, technical reports, and licensing topical reports
Support development of licensing plans and associated budgets
Actively support the X-energy safety culture and ensure integration of quality in licensing processes as informed by the X-energy Quality Assurance Program
Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication
Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering or science (e.g. mechanical, nuclear, electrical, physics) or other related area
Level III: Typically, five years of relevant licensing experience
Level IV: Typically, ten years of relevant licensing experience
Level V: Typically, fifteen years of relevant licensing experience

Preferred

Experience with U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission construction permit and operating license application preparation and/or reviews
Knowledge of high-temperature gas reactor technologies and/or first-of-a-kind nuclear technologies
Knowledge of small modular reactor technical and licensing considerations
Knowledge of U.S. NRC and/or U.S. DOE regulatory requirements for reactor licensing
Knowledge of international nuclear reactor licensing frameworks
Experience with front-end loading project planning
Ability to analyze and interpret regulatory requirements, legislation, and policy documents
