Tax Manager
Solomon Page is a specialty niche provider of staffing and executive search solutions. They are seeking a Tax Manager who will oversee global tax provision, compliance, and planning, while leading a small team and working closely with the VP of Global Tax.
Responsibilities
Prepare Quarterly and Annual Worldwide Tax Provision and reporting process
Preparation of Federal Income Tax return workpapers working with external advisors
Work on special projects with other member of Finance
Build efficiency in Tax processes and implement tax saving strategies
Responsible for internal controls of recording and tracking income tax and other tax information
Prepare the quarterly and annual global consolidation of the income tax provision, including the tax balance sheet and tax expense accounts
Prepare global effective tax rate analysis and analytical tools for quarterly and annual financial statement processes
Prepare consolidated monthly, quarterly and year-to-date tax balance sheet reconciliations and manage the monthly tax account reconciliation process
Prepare interim tax rate forecast and analysis in accordance with FIN 18
Support Financial Planning & Analysis group for forecasting of pre-tax book income by legal entity
Work with other members of the Tax Department to prepare the US Federal and state tax returns, including information returns and disclosures related to foreign operations
Oversight of the foreign corporate tax compliance
Assist with implementation and utilization of tax software for quarterly and annual tax provision calculation
Proactively manage correspondence with US Federal and state tax authorities
Report and respond to the VP of Global Tax as assigned, with accurate and timely work to facilitate any financial project or data requests, which may include preparation and/or indirect preparation of tax-related reports and information, on a frequent basis as requested by operations and management
Assist with transfer-pricing methodology and compliance
Coordinate, prepare, and analyze the company’s federal and state tax reserves and FIN 48 positions
Coordinate, prepare, and review of federal and state income returns
Attend regular and impromptu Finance management meetings, and company-sponsored supervisory or training meetings, as required
Ability to be self-directed and initiate necessary actions in all responsibilities of tax related analysis , preparation and reporting requirements, directly contributing to Wesco’s operations and ability to successfully fulfill business commitments
Interacts and communicates frequently with the Finance management team, facilitating and serving as a financial tax expert
Ability to give clear instructions in a respectable and professional manner, fostering an atmosphere of teamwork, when directing subordinates and requesting information from inter-departmental personnel
Ability to exercise significant discretion and sound judgement with regards to the planning and prioritizing of work flow, processes and best resources to meet the financial reporting schedules
Ability to perform and meet the essential functions of the position of Tax Manager with excellent knowledge and practice of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP) , corporate tax laws, and auditing procedures necessary to successfully compile financial data and fullfill reporting requirements
Ability to comprehend and recommend correcting actions necessary to solve complex accounting errors or system problems
Ability to apply professional expertise and common sense understanding to find the best and reasonable solutions to work through complex problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations
Ability to utilize the internal accounting systems and third party resources to communicate and perform the essential duties of the Tax Manager position, including the Wesco U.S. Intranet system, email, and the use of printers, copiers
Ability to competently write and speak concisely in a variety of communication settings and styles in English, with strong interpersonal skills to communicate well with all levels of the Company and professional business partners
Qualification
Required
5 to 10 years of accounting experience with Minimum of 3 years in public accounting and 2 years of tax management experience in the private sector is preferred
Proven ability in the areas of Financial Analysis, Auditing, Sarbanes-Oxley
Previous tax accounting responsibility and reporting experience preferred
Ability to prepare and analyze tax related issues in a geographically disperse organization
Demonstrated ability to develop models and other tools of analysis for financial management reporting
Strong ability to analyze
Strong professional written, speaking and presentation skills are required
Competency with large integrated accounting systems and Microsoft Suite software, including Excel
Ability to travel periodically, if required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred
