Director of Credit and Loan Policy Review
Piper Companies is looking for a Director of Credit Policy and Loan Review to support a leading financial institution as it continues to grow and mature its credit risk governance framework. This individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and ongoing management of consumer, residential, and commercial lending policies while providing independent oversight of credit quality and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain credit policies and procedures across consumer, residential, and commercial lending portfolios
Design and execute a comprehensive loan review program, including sample-based testing for underwriting quality and policy compliance
Conduct regular reviews of loan portfolios to assess credit quality, documentation, and emerging risk trends
Monitor portfolio performance and proactively identify potential credit risk concerns
Prepare and present detailed credit risk and portfolio performance reporting to senior leadership
Support the Credit Risk & Fair Lending Committee by preparing agendas, reports, and supporting analytical materials
Partner closely with loan originations, underwriting, and loan operations teams to ensure adherence to credit standards
Provide effective oversight, independent challenge, and risk-based recommendations
Communicate identified exceptions or inconsistencies to loan officers and underwriters
Support internal audits, external audits, and regulatory examinations
Perform all duties inherent in a people management role, including leadership, coaching, and oversight
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required (Business, Finance, Risk Management, or Accounting preferred) OR a minimum of seven (7) years of directly related experience
Minimum seven (7) years of experience within a bank or credit union environment
At least five (5) years of experience in loan review, credit policy, underwriting, credit analysis, or a related discipline
Hands-on underwriting experience in commercial and/or residential lending
Proven experience developing and maintaining formal credit policies and procedures
Minimum three (3) years of experience leading or influencing teams
Strong understanding of credit risk management, regulatory expectations, and lending best practices
Preferred
Formal credit risk training or professional certification
Experience preparing materials for credit risk committees and executive leadership
Background supporting regulatory examinations and examiner interactions
