Senior Website Designer

Louisiana Supreme Court is seeking a Senior Website Designer to lead the design and visual development of user-centered websites and digital experiences. This role involves translating communication objectives into intuitive site layouts and ensuring compliance with accessibility standards.

Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end design of website layouts, page templates, navigation structures, and interactive components to support a high-traffic public-facing web environment
Create and maintain responsive web design standards that ensure consistent rendering across browsers, devices, and screen sizes
Develop and document design systems, style guides, UI components, and reusable patterns to ensure brand consistency and maintainability
Collaborate closely with web developers, content strategists, publishers, and program stakeholders to translate requirements into functional designs and production-ready specifications
Ensure web designs comply with applicable accessibility requirements (including Section 508 and WCAG standards), implementing accessibility-first design principles
Conduct usability reviews and heuristic evaluations; recommend improvements to layout, information architecture, and user flows
Support content modernization efforts, including redesign of legacy pages and implementation of improved site structure and navigation
Provide quality assurance review of implemented designs to ensure fidelity to approved mockups and design standards
Contribute to performance and optimization initiatives by designing lightweight, user-friendly interfaces that support readability and engagement
Support rapid-turn requests for landing pages, campaign pages, and event microsites as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in web design, digital media, graphic design, HCI, or a related discipline
Minimum of 8 years of experience in web/UI design, including experience designing complex websites in a regulated or public-sector environment
Demonstrated experience producing high-quality web designs, wireframes, prototypes, and visual assets
Strong working knowledge of responsive design, information architecture, and usability best practices
Experience applying accessibility requirements (Section 508/WCAG) in design deliverables
Advanced proficiency in design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite)
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience designing within a CMS environment (e.g., Drupal)
Familiarity with the U.S. Web Design System (USWDS) or similar design frameworks
Experience supporting digital communications campaigns or complex content ecosystems
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. US Citizenship is a requirement for a Public Trust clearance at this location
