Patient Service Representative

Outer Cape Health Services is dedicated to providing a full range of primary health care and supportive social services. The Patient Service Representative ensures smooth patient flow and a positive experience by greeting, registering, and assisting patients with inquiries and appointments.

Health Care

Responsibilities

Greet, register and direct patients and visitors to assigned Health Center
Make and answer telephone calls at assigned Health Center in a professional manner
Maintain provider schedules, and schedule and reschedule patient appointments in accordance with the provider’s schedule
Correspond with patients utilizing form letters, open mail and distribute to appropriate individual (ensuring confidentiality of medical information)
Scan medical record documents
Conduct insurance eligibility and verification; update Providers; utilize insurance web site and search engines
Ensure patient demographic and billing information is accurate
Report monies taken daily and report to Billing Department
Monitoring Patient Portal communication with patients
Collect Co-pays and account balances
Ability to work flexible hours, as required to meet the needs of the Health Center
Other duties as assigned
Attends periodic staff meetings
Adheres to OCSH policies, values and principles

Required

High school diploma required, college preferred
2 years' customer services experience, medical setting preferred
Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions, establish priorities, and escalate items, as appropriate, in a busy work environment
Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a team member and independently
Outstanding organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills—bi-lingual helpful
Ability to adhere to strict confidentiality standards
Ability to multi-task and reprioritize as necessary
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills essential
Proficiency in computer skills including Epic, Outlook, Microsoft office etc
