Mine Rescue Team Coordinator

SIMCO, LLC is managing and operating the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) and is currently seeking a Mine Rescue Team Coordinator to join their team in Carlsbad, New Mexico. The role involves developing, implementing, and managing mine emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and coordinating training for Mine Rescue Teams.

Responsibilities

Plan, facilitate and coordinate training and drills for two Mine Rescue Teams
Maintain, audit, and manage all equipment, including self-contained breathing apparatus, first aid supplies, mine rescue vehicle and trailer
Develop and maintain the Emergency Management (EM) plans, procedures, Policies to comply with DOE Orders, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) and Internal WIPP requirements for the protection of WIPP employees and facilities
Maintain accurate records of all activities, training, incidents, and equipment status, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies
Coordinate with internal teams, external government agencies (like MSHA and state departments), and other emergency service providers, potentially including mutual aid agreements
Plan and coordinate Mine Rescue Team competitions
Assist in the development, performance, and documentation of scheduled Management Self-Assessments
Plan, facilitate and coordinate MSHA underground evacuation drills
Other duties as assigned by EM manager

Required

Bachelor's degree with six (6) years of relevant experience, or
Associate's degree with ten (10) years of relevant experience, or
High School Diploma or Equivalency with fourteen (14) years of relevant experience is required
MSHA Blue Card for Training is required
Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances

Preferred

Experience in a regulated environment such as DOE, NRC, or military is preferred
Experience on a Mine Rescue Team is a plus
Previous WIPP site experience is a plus
