The role involves performing hands-on laboratory-based materials testing and characterization activities to support reactor operations, including metallography and characterization of materials.

Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of hands-on laboratory-based materials testing and characterization activities to support the reactor
Perform metallography and characterization for a wide range of metallic and ceramic materials
Generate reports detailing characterization techniques and resulting data
Perform hands-on radiation work, including work inside of a glovebox
Operate and maintain materials focused laboratory equipment such as furnaces, polishing equipment, and metallography equipment
Assist with the design, fabrication, and operation of custom laboratory experiments
Coordinate receipt inspections of incoming materials, sectioning of materials, and shipping of materials with both on-site and off-site individuals
Qualification
Required
A Technology or Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
Demonstrated hands-on laboratory experience
Metallography and sample prep experience
A high attention to detail and quality control
The service provider will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork
Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status
Preferred
SEM-EDS, microscopy, and other characterization experience
Experience working to quality standards such as ASME NQA-1, ISO 9001, or others
Lab management experience (e.g., maintaining spaces and/or equipment)
Experience with radiation work, including working within gloveboxes
Strong communication skills
