Responsibilities

Maintain current written policies and procedures that govern the operations of the facility
Assist department directors in the development and implementation of performance evaluations
Interpret the Center's policies and procedures to employees, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, etc. as necessary
Ensure that all employees, residents, visitors, and the general public follow established policies and procedures
Assume the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the services and programs at the facility
Represent the facility in dealing with outside agencies, including governmental agencies and third party payers, or provide an authorized representative of the facility when unable to attend such meetings
Schedule, assist, and/or participates in all meetings, including; Quality Improvement Committee meetings
Utilization Review meetings, Infection Control Meetings, Risk Management Meetings, etc
Make routine inspections of the facility to assure that established policies and procedures are being implemented and followed
Participate in facility surveys/inspections made by authorized government agencies
Assist with the review and ensure proper submission of a plan of correction for deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy of such plan to the appropriate governing agency and/or corporate staff for review
Maintain adequate communication with residents, patients and their families
Delegate a responsible staff member to act on your behalf when absent from the facility
Assists in the recruitment and selection of qualified department directors, supervisors, consultants and other auxiliary personnel
Consult with department directors concerning the operation of their departments to assist in eliminating/correcting problem areas, and/or improvement of services
Assist in the development, implementation and control of annual budgets and revenue/expense controls
Review and interpret monthly financial statements with departmental staff and implement necessary controls to ensure compliance with budgetary parameters
Counsel/discipline personnel fairly and without regard to race, color, creed, national origin, age, sex, religion handicap, or marital status, when necessary and ensure proper documentation in accordance with the Center's policies and procedures
Maintain an excellent working relationship with the medical profession and other health related facilities and organizations through formal working and transfer agreements
Ensure proper orientation and training/re-training of all staff
Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the Center
Ensure that the building and grounds are maintained in good repair
Ensure completion of and review all accident/incident reports while ensuring an effective accident prevention program for all residents, patients, employees, volunteers and visitors
Secure authorization to purchase major equipment, supplies or services in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures
Assist in the establishment and maintenance of an adequate accounting system to ensure optimal operating cost and revenue for the Center
Ensure that adequate financial records and cost report information are submitted to the proper authorities to ensure all thorough and timely reporting requirements
Ensure that the resident's rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are well established and maintained at all times, in accordance with the Centers policies and procedures
Review resident complaints and grievances and make written reports of action taken in coordination with the Centers policies and procedures
Ensure that all residents receive care in a manner and in an environment that maintains or enhances their quality of life without abridging the safety and rights of other residents
Monitors resident and patient call bell, to ensure adequate response times in accordance with the Center's goals and objectives
Monitors overall daily census and census mix to ensure budgetary compliance and operating efficiency
Monitors and/or completes and/or ensures completion of daily reports, not limited to; Census, Length of Stay, Admission/Discharges, CQI, DSSI, Press Ganey, Staff Turn Over, Payroll Analysis, Daily staffing/labor report, EBITDARM, Pharmacy Exclusion, Workers Compensation Lost Run, Payroll Analysis, Accounts Receivable/payable, ADP/Smartlinx, Marketing

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Administration, Business Administration or a health related field
Must have a minimum of five years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or long term care facility
Must possess a current, unencumbered Assisted Living Administrator's Certification or meet the reciprocity licensure requirements in the employed State
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions
Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public
Must be knowledgeable of reimbursement regulations and nursing policies and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines pertaining to long term/subacute care administration
Must possess the ability to work harmoniously with and supervise other personnel
Must possess the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures set forth by the facility/company that are necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation and Culture of Excellence
