The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking a Cyber Security Analyst IV to lead their Security Operation Center team in monitoring and responding to cybersecurity threats. The role involves overseeing daily operations, mentoring analysts, and ensuring the protection of the Agency’s digital assets against evolving cyber risks.

Responsibilities

Reviews and implements incident response plan, privacy, policy, and data classification requirements for the agency and manages teams between 4-10 people
Reviews ATO's (Approved-to-Operate) and SSD's (?) for acceptance before the software/hardware is allowed to be inside our secure environment
Performs vulnerability scans of networks and applications to assess effectiveness and identify weaknesses
Develops plans to safeguard computer configuration and data files against accidental or unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs
Trains users and promotes security awareness to ensure system security and improve application, server, and network efficiency
Performs forensic analysis of information systems and portable devices and forensic recovery of data using assessment tools
Monitors systems and procedures to protect data systems and databases from unauthorized access
Modifies and monitors computer configuration and data files to incorporate new software and virus protection systems, correct errors, or change individual access status
Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

Minimum of five (5) years' experience performing cybersecurity analysis, information security analysis, or information assurance
One or more of the following certifications: CISSP, OSCP, GIAC (Any), CCNP Security, ECIH, CHFI, VCAP, CISA, CISM, CRISC
If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence
Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures
Ability to develop plans, policies, and procedures for efficient workflow and overall effectiveness
Ability to provide clear direction to others, promote teamwork and motivate others to accomplish goals
Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers
Must be organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize in a multi-demand and constantly changing environment
Must be able to construct and deliver clear, concise, and professional presentations and/or communications to a variety of audiences and/or individuals
Must demonstrate ability to quickly and efficiently access relevant information and be able to utilize and/or present research and conclusions in a clear and concise manner
Must demonstrate an ability to examine data/information, discern variations/similarities, and be able identify trends, relationships and causal factors
Must demonstrate an ability to responsibly handle sensitive and confidential information and situations and adhere to applicable laws/statutes/policies related to access, maintenance and dissemination of information
Must be able to work in safe manner at all times, avoiding shortcuts that have potential adverse results/risks, and must be able to comply with safety standards and best practices
Availability for after-hours, weekend work, and emergencies is required
This position may have the ability to telecommute based on the needs of the division/agency
Travel statewide as needed

Preferred

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major and/or emphasis of computer science, information technology or a related field
Alternative certifications may be accepted at the discretion of management
Knowledge of management/supervisory methods and principles, performance/productivity standards, and fiscal/budget management
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint)
