EQUIPMENT REPAIR TECHNICIAN ($4,000 Hiring Incentive)

State of Arizona Enterprise Technology (ASET) is looking for an Equipment Repair Technician to join their innovative team focused on improving Arizona's transportation system. The role involves ensuring the safe operation of scale systems, performing repairs and calibrations, and maintaining relevant databases and inventories.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Repair/Inspection/Certification Port of Entry scales
Repair/Inspection/Certification of portable trailer scales
Repair/Inspection/Certification of hand held scales
Requires extensive travel to scale locations throughout the state and overnight lodging as required
Work outside in the elements
Repairs various parts on portable scale trailers and provides minor maintenance
Provides advice and recommendations to management on scale operations
Maintain databases of scale calibrations, servicing, repairs and other related information
Maintains scale parts inventory and a repair/service database
Coordinates with scale companies for additional work performed

Required

Position requires possession of a valid driver's license and a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within the sixth month of employment
Retention of said licenses and endorsements are required during the period of employment
The position requires a Certified Licensed Scale Serviceman certification obtained through the Department of Weights and Measures, and Confined Space and Forklift Certification within the ninth month of employment
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job
Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks
The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended
Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training
An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance
All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify)
Knowledge of scale electronics, structural principles, and hydraulic components
Knowledge of commercial truck limitations and axle placements
Knowledge of load cells and scale weight indicators
Knowledge of certified test weights
Knowledge of scale repairs, testing and certifying
Knowledge of AC & DC voltage
Knowledge of basic troubleshooting of printers and outdoor scale display scoreboards
Knowledge of the specifications, tolerances, and other technical requirements for weighing and measuring devices
Knowledge of diagnosing and troubleshooting low voltage circuits, reading schematics
Skill in written and oral communications
Skill in time management
Skill in record keeping
Skill in hydraulic system inspection
Ability to analyze and evaluate scale problems to determine appropriate actions and steps to take
Ability to use a hydraulic scale press tester
Ability to operate a scale test truck; crane and weight cart
Ability to use a digital voltmeter (DVM)
Ability to read and understand electronic schematics
Ability to operate scale test equipment, to include hydraulic crane and welding equipment
Ability to obtain and maintain a confined space certification
Ability to pass medical/physical exam to include pulmonary test required to fit test and wear a N95 mask or a paper

Preferred

Will have some experience in the direct contact of Weigh in Motion (WIM) scales, static platform enforcement scales, portable enforcement ramp scales, and hand carried enforcement scales
Experience with Cardinal scales, Btek, Intercomp, Flex-weigh, Haenni Load O' Meter, Toledo, Fairbanks, Howe, and Weightronics and NIST Handbook 44 Proficiency is highly desirable
