Responsibilities

Performs multi-disciplinary professional engineering/computer science work involving the application of electronics, mechanical, aerospace, and/or other engineering/computer science disciplines to satisfy the needs of customers in the acquisition, development, and/or sustainment of weapon systems, sub-systems, or support systems
Provides intelligence support to enable military operations, force modernization, and policy making. Serves as an interface with DoD customers, other US Intelligence Centers, and foreign allies to develop and define intelligence analysis applications and M&S requirements and to meet those requirements in an efficient and effective manner
Serves as an engineering and computer science consultant and technical expert to senior officials, intelligence analysts, engineers, software developers, and/or other national and international Intelligence Community partners
Represents NASIC at various DoD, national and international level working groups to advocate NASIC's position on intelligence analysis applications and their development; the characterization of threat weapons; and to collaborate or support work involving modeling and simulation

All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period
If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement

A bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science from an ABET-accredited (for engineering) institution is required
Position is designated special-sensitive and incumbent must be able to obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed
This is an Interdisciplinary position that may be filled as a Computer Engineer GG-0854-13; Electronics Engineer GG-0855-13; Mechanical Engineer GG-0830-13; Aerospace Engineer GG-0861-13; or Computer Scientist GG-1550-13
To qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions
Basic Requirement or Individual Occupational Requirement: Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics
Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering
Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions
Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position
Professional knowledge of advanced multidisciplinary engineering and computer science concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment sufficient to apply experimental theories, principles, and concepts to project development, research, execution, and advisory services
Requires strong technical competence, judgment, leadership, and resourcefulness to conceive and guide the successful conduct and reporting of projects in the mission area
Professional knowledge of inter-disciplinary engineering (such as electronics, electrical, computer, aerospace, or mechanical disciplines, mathematics, computer science, or closely related fields) and computer science concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures to effectively apply engineering and computer science theories, principles, and concepts to intelligence analysis application development to enable the engineering design, analysis, and modeling & simulation (M&S) of threat systems
Professional knowledge of principles, concepts, and methodologies of all-source scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) analysis, software development, modeling and simulation, and the Defense Intelligence Analysis Program (DIAP)
Expanded knowledge of the mission, role, function, organizational structure, and operation of the DoD, Air Force, and Intelligence Community; and their communication and information infrastructures and organizations
Skill and ability to gather and analyze a variety of program information, make sound judgments concerning task progress and effectively communicate, including the presentation of technical problems and results in a logical and concise manner
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy; and ability to plan and organize work, and consult effectively with co-workers and peers
Ability to collaborate and effectively work within a group setting, maintain effective working relationships with a variety of technical representatives, peers, and government contractors; and skill in presenting technical findings and evaluations clearly, logically and concisely in a variety of verbal, written and graphical formats
Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing
Work is normally performed in a regular office setting. Work is mostly sedentary and may require long periods of time working at a desk or computer terminal. Other physical activities may include standing to deliver briefings, bending to file and climbing stairs. The entire facility is handicap accessible. Incumbent may be required to travel outside NASIC to attend training, meetings, workshops or seminars in order to teach, receive or exchange information in their area of expertise
