Accounting Technician 2 - Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail - Randolph Co.
The WV Departments of Health, Health Facilities, and Human Services is seeking an Accounting Technician 2 for the Huttonsville Correctional Center and Jail. The role involves performing entry-level accounting support duties, including routine posting and adjusting to the general ledger, processing claims and invoices, and maintaining accurate financial records for inmate funds.

Responsibilities
Perform entry-level accounting support duties
Perform routine posting and adjusting to the general ledger
Process claims and invoices
Review transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations
Record and balance routine financial and numerical data in accordance with agency standards and work procedures
Responsible for all inmate monies
Prepare deposits daily
Prepare checks for inmates sending money out, releases, transfers, etc
Enter all incoming money orders
Work with rapid release and debit card system
Send daily receipts to units
Keep all files orderly and organized for auditing purposes
Balance accounts daily
Provide weekly and monthly reports to units
Maintain spreadsheets to confirm that all balances are correct and deducted accurately to include court orders, clerk orders, restitution, child support, etc
Keep supervisors updated of any unusual events or errors
Help with purchasing and accounts payable as needed
Qualification
Required
Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent
Two years of full time or equivalent part time paid bookkeeping, accounting or related experience
Successful completion of college-level accounting courses from a regionally accredited college or university may be substituted at the rate of three semester hours equals six months experience
Successful completion of related business school or vocational training may be substituted for the experience through an established formula
Benefits
$5000 will be added to the minimum starting rate of pay for all classifications within a Critical Vacancy Pay Supplemental Facility.
Employees in this classification shall receive an annual base building pay differential each fiscal year of $250 after completing one year of service.
