Responsibilities
Supervise daily purchasing operations, including sourcing raw materials, packaging, and indirect supplies
Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, ensuring quality, reliability, and competitive pricing
Negotiate contracts and terms with vendors, focusing on food-grade materials and regulatory compliance
Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and warehouse teams to prevent shortages or overstock
Ensure all purchases meet food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, SQF, FDA, USDA) and company specifications
Collaborate with R&D and Quality Assurance teams on new product sourcing and supplier approvals
Track market trends and ingredient pricing to inform purchasing decisions and cost-saving initiatives
Resolve issues related to delivery delays, quality discrepancies, or invoice variances
Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance
Support audits and regulatory inspections by providing procurement documentation and traceability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Food Science, Business Administration, or related field
2+ years of purchasing experience in food manufacturing or a related industry
Strong understanding of food safety regulations and supplier quality assurance
Experience with ERP systems and procurement software
Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
