Data Center Technician

Responsibilities

Support end‑to‑end data center expansion projects, including space planning, equipment staging, and installation
Assemble and install server racks, cabinets, power distribution units (PDUs), and related infrastructure
Coordinate with engineering, facilities, and project management teams to ensure buildouts meet design specifications and timelines
Unbox, inventory, and prepare hardware for deployment
Physically install servers, storage arrays, switches, and other equipment into racks
Ensure proper weight distribution, airflow considerations, and adherence to data center layout standards
Install, route, and secure structured cabling (fiber and copper) according to industry best practices
Terminate, label, and test cables to ensure performance and compliance with standards
Maintain cable organization and documentation to support long‑term operational efficiency
Perform initial hardware configuration, power‑up testing, and connectivity validation
Replace failed components, perform routine maintenance, and support break/fix activities
Assist with hardware lifecycle tasks such as decommissioning, asset tagging, and inventory management
Monitor data center environmental conditions and escalate issues as needed
Follow established procedures for change management, incident response, and equipment handling
Maintain accurate records of installations, cabling maps, and hardware deployments

CompTIA A+CompTIA Server+Structured cablingHardware deploymentBasic computer hardware knowledgeMicrosoft Office

Required

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components
Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds when necessary
Ability to safely climb ladders when necessary
Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly when necessary
Ability to stand and walk throughout the facility for extended periods without loss or reduction of productivity

Preferred

CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience
CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience
