ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST II

The State of Maryland is seeking an Administrative Specialist II to perform intermediate level administrative work. The role involves applying and interpreting rules and regulations, assisting in program administration, and preparing reports and recommendations for agency improvement.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Obtains, analyzes and interprets data in order to apply rules, regulations and standards in accordance with laws
Assists in the administration of an assigned program and in the preparation of final reports and suggested recommendations for the improvement of the agency or its programs
Consults with program heads and administrative officials regarding policies, trends, and interpretation of data and program needs
Researches and compiles data as directed
Prepares statistical tables, charts and reports, work-flow charts, staffing patterns, and organizational charts
Assists in planning and implementing new or revised programs, procedures, practices, and organizations
Performs other related duties

Required

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate
One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work
Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience

Preferred

Experience in Windows based operating systems, preferably Windows 10
Experience with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel and Power point
Experience with google products such as Docs, Sheets and Slides
Experience in taking meeting minutes
Experience completing and sending correspondence for an Executive/Command staff
