Seasonal Physical Science Technician
The National Park Service is seeking a Seasonal Physical Science Technician to assist in wilderness character monitoring and related environmental programs. Responsibilities
Serves as a technical advisor for Wilderness Character Monitoring
Responsible for program development and implementation related to caves and karst formations, geology, soils, hydrology, hydrogeology, air quality, acoustics, paleontology
Responsible for program development and implementation related to wilderness field operations reporting, and monitoring wilderness character, aircraft overflights, natural soundscapes, visitor use, and related fields and activities
Prepares management and scientific reports regarding the results of protection, mitigation, restoration, inventory, monitoring, and research activities
Following established procedures and within a defined scope, the incumbent conducts scientifically credible protection, mitigation, and restoration projects needed to prevent resource damage and to minimize human impacts
Works closely with wilderness rangers and volunteers to implement field data collection

You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record
You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you
Applicants must be at least (1) 18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: 1) Work in the fields of geophysics, chemistry, hydrology, engineering, geology, and metallurgy. 2) Utilize ArcGIS and geospatial analysis tools to collect, manage, and interpret spatial data; create maps, perform spatial queries, and support natural resource management decisions through GIS-based analysis. 3) Implement established natural resource management projects in the field (field examinations, surveys, and inventories). 4) Assist in preparation of reports, including research and preparation of graphs, charts, and tables, and draft reports. 5) Take measurements and collect field data in a natural resource setting. 6) Complete routine analyses of collected field data. 7) Facilitate natural resource protection, mitigation, and restoration activities. EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one year of directly related graduate-level education (18 semester hours) in the fields such as chemistry, hydrology, geophysics, and/or geology. You must include transcripts
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. To combine education and experience, first determine percentage of education requirement satisfied (example 1 semester of graduate study completed would be 50% of the one-year requirement). Then take the number of months of full-time experience and divide by 12 months. Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. You must include transcripts

Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies
