Responsibilities
Support general counselors and specialists by creating support plans, behavior charts, and camper break schedules
Work with paraprofessionals to coordinate camp schedules if applicable
Manage budget for any support supplies
Provide weekly activity communication
Support with camper pick-up and drop-off process
Create a safe, supportive, stimulating and fun environment for campers
Ensure campers' safety at all times
Set clear and consistent limits and resolve behavioral problems with assistance from supervisors
Model appropriate behavior for campers and staff
Additional responsibilities as required
Serve as a member of camp leadership team
Support staff. This includes meetings as necessary, and regular verbal and written evaluations
Help organize and lead staff training
Appropriately respond to crisis situations
Step-in for staff breaks if necessary
Qualification
Required
Experience working with children in grades K - 8, preferably in a camp setting
Ability to respond sensitively to diverse groups of children
Ability to plan and execute creative activities for children
Ability to lead and motivate groups of campers and staff
Experience supervising staff
Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral
Dedication to and eagerness for working in camp, informal education and youth programs
Knowledge of summer camps
Ability to work well both in a team environment and independently
Enthusiasm, flexibility, and ability to improvise
