This fully remote role involves collaborating with DevOps, product, and engineering teams to shape API contracts and backend architecture while working on modern, API-driven systems with exposure to AI-related projects.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI, and Pydantic
Define and enforce API contracts and data validation using Pydantic models
Build and maintain RESTful APIs in an AWS cloud environment
Collaborate with DevOps teams on containerized deployments, monitoring, and scaling
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested production code
Optimize systems for performance, reliability, security, and cost efficiency
Participate in architectural discussions and technical design reviews
Review code and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in distributed cloud systems
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-aware development practices

Required

5+ years of professional experience with Python
Strong production experience with FastAPI
Hands-on experience with Pydantic for data validation and schema modeling
Solid understanding of AWS core services, including: EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, CloudWatch
Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
Strong understanding of async programming (async/await, asyncio)
Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and ORMs (SQLAlchemy / SQLModel)
Proficiency with Git and modern collaborative development workflows
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills in a remote environment

Preferred

Experience deploying containerized applications using Amazon ECS (EC2 or Fargate)
Hands-on experience with Docker and container-based development
Exposure to DevOps practices, including: CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or CDK)
Familiarity with AWS messaging and async systems (SQS, SNS, EventBridge)
Experience with observability and monitoring tools (CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus)
Exposure to AI or ML-related projects, such as: Integrating AI/ML models or LLM APIs into backend services
Supporting data pipelines for ML workflows
Knowledge of authentication and authorization (OAuth2, JWT, AWS Cognito)
