Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Payroll & Compliances

Mid LevelLearningMate is seeking an Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to collaborate with their Learning Design team in developing educational courses focused on the Payroll Cycle and regulatory compliance. The role involves translating complex payroll regulations into structured content and requires collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure accuracy and alignment with learning objectives.

Responsibilities
Partner with Lead IDs to create content outlines for courses on the payroll processing journey, from gross pay calculation to tax filing (Form 941)
Select and curate appropriate sources/content for each course skill/lesson/learning objectives as needed
Validate the time-on-task (ToT) for each instructional component
Write instructional content as needed: case studies, concept guides, interactive scripts
Write anecdotes to form real-world connections with the concepts being taught
Support the creation of slide decks and demonstration videos for payroll software, such as Kronos
Review formative assessment items for accuracy, currency, alignment with learning objectives, and consistency with course instructional content
Develop practical scenarios for payroll auditing and ACA compliance
Develop hands-on learning/practice activities, as well as lab activities (if required), along with the required data set and documentation, using the appropriate templates
Review demo video scripts and storyboards to ensure payroll cycle and regulations are accurately represented
Support the implementation of client and stakeholder feedback to ensure the accuracy of content
Qualification
Required
Professional background in Accounting, specifically in Payroll Management and US Compliance (FLSA, ACA)
Attention to detail to produce error-free technical content regarding tax and deductions
Experience writing instructional materials and online course development
Preferred
Previous experience in training or educational roles is a plus
