Director, State Regulatory & Production Policy

Responsibilities

Develop and advocate for laws and policies that streamline production processes, including permitting, zoning, and regulatory compliance, at both state and local levels
Advocate for sound production incentive and regulatory streamlining legislation, representing Netflix’s interests in legislative hearings, industry forums, and stakeholder meetings
Support Netflix House zoning and permitting efforts across the country, coordinating closely with internal real estate, construction, and studio management teams
Ensure Netflix compliance with incentive reporting requirements
Partner with industry organizations to develop and deliver clear messaging on the qualitative and quantitative economic benefits of film and television production to state and local governments
Leverage data and analysis to inform policy positions and demonstrate the value of production activity to communities and policymakers

Required

Minimum of 10 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related field
Deep understanding of state and local regulatory processes affecting film and television production, including permitting and zoning
Demonstrated success in advocating for policy change and supporting large, complex projects in a highly regulated environment
Experience working with film commissions, state and local governments, and regulatory agencies
Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including industry partners and government officials
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively
Experience developing and delivering data-driven policy messages to support business objectives
Willingness to travel frequently

Preferred

Experience working with or within studios, technology companies, regulatory or governmental agencies, or industry associations is helpful but not required
