Software Integration Engineer
Approach Venture is a fast-growing advanced manufacturing stealth company focused on building next-generation optical and hardware systems. The Software Integration Engineer will play a crucial role in connecting factory tools, test infrastructure, and production workflows, directly impacting manufacturing reliability and quality.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain software that controls factory equipment, workstations, and manufacturing workflows
Partner closely with process engineers to ensure all production parameters are visible, traceable, and controllable
Extend automation systems to support new product launches and evolving manufacturing processes
Maintain reliable interfaces between factory hardware, tooling, and control software
Own the software that operates end-of-line production testing and development lab environments
Build and maintain automated test frameworks used for qualification, validation, and manufacturing
Integrate and control test equipment, instrumentation, and hardware through stable software interfaces
Ensure test systems run predictably while meeting performance, coverage, and throughput targets
Develop pipelines to collect and store test data, logs, and system performance metrics
Implement monitoring, alerting, and fault detection across manufacturing software systems
Support root cause investigations for production disruptions and system failures
Improve long-term system reliability, observability, and maintainability
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
Hands-on engineering experience demonstrating independent project ownership and technical excellence
Strong programming skills in Python, C, and C++
Solid understanding of networking fundamentals
Experience developing and deploying software in Linux environments
Familiarity with automated testing, CI pipelines, and deployment workflows
Preferred
Experience working with manufacturing equipment, instrumentation, or industrial control systems
Background designing software systems with strong observability and fault tolerance
Exposure to hardware-focused, high-volume production environments
Experience building long-term maintainable software for physical systems
