Part-Time Golf Course Mechanic

Lake Metroparks is seeking a Part-Time Golf Course Mechanic to ensure the repair and maintenance of golf course equipment and machinery. The role involves performing preventative service and repairs on various equipment to maintain high course standards.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical defects and failures on golf course maintenance equipment, both in the shop and on the course
Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment including lubrication, oil and filter changes, and inspection of belts, bearings, and hoses
Sharpen, grind, and set mower reels and blades for optimal cutting performance
Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues
Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records for all equipment
Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment
Occasionally assist with mowing duties and other golf course maintenance tasks

Required

High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum of one (1) year of equipment repair or small engine maintenance experience required
Must possess a valid driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's policy
Must be able to perform heavy physical labor and work under adverse weather conditions
Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
Must complete all required Park District training and maintain compliance with safety standards
Pre-employment background check required
Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and small engine repair
Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems related to turf equipment
Skilled in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete work efficiently
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to identify and report safety hazards promptly

Preferred

golf course or turf equipment experience
Basic computer experience for recordkeeping
