TCEQ - Senior Staff Geoscientist (III - IV)
Capps Plumbing and Sewer, Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Geoscientist to join the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's Office of Water. Responsibilities
Communicate technical information at public meetings of the Texas Groundwater Protection Committee (TGPC). Provide technical expertise and other support to TGPC. Participate in and chair TGPC subcommittees
Participate in Groundwater Conservation District (GCD) oversight activities. Analyze and interpret groundwater availability models. Evaluate hydrological and geological data associated with public petitions for GCD creation and performance evaluation
Plan, execute, and manage all phases of complex to highly complex work on hydrogeologic reports and other projects
Provide training, mentoring, and senior level geoscience expertise to team/section/division and agency staff
Participate in legislative activities including bill analysis, rule review, and rulemaking
Present technical or regulatory information to governmental agencies, stakeholders, and the public
Participate in policy and team development, such as the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures and guidance documents, as well as optimizing work processes
Assist customers regarding the program through verbal communication, correspondence, data reports, presentations, and Public Information Requests
Qualification
Required
Experience operating and interpreting quantitative hydrogeological models
Experience speaking publicly at conferences, public meetings, and legal proceedings
Experience analyzing, interpreting, and/or implementing statutes, rules, regulations, policies or procedures
Texas Board of Professional Geoscientist (TBPG) license
Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus four years of full-time geoscientific experience beyond licensure for Geoscientist III
Nine years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve (12) months of hire date by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) for Geoscientist III
A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed for Geoscientist III
Two years of full-time TCEQ experience as a Geoscientist II for Geoscientist III
Licensed as a Geoscientist by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) plus five years of full-time geological experience beyond licensure for Geoscientist IV
Ten years of full-time geoscientist experience and must obtain Geoscientist licensure within twelve (12) months of hire date by the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists (TBPG) for Geoscientist IV
A graduate degree in a geoscience discipline may substitute for one year of the required experience, with a maximum of two years substitution allowed for Geoscientist IV
Ability to maintain the security or integrity of critical infrastructure
