Information Technology Associate I-Public Safety

Responsibilities

Provides systems administration and first level user support and training
Provides direct service and assistance to faculty, staff and students including first-level user support and training
Provide user support and training; set up departmental workstations troubleshoot problems, install software and hardware
Acts as the formal liaison between the department and University Technology Services, including campus systems administrators
Provides technical support for hardware and software purchases
Creates and maintains procedural documents for technical/computer processes
Serves as the administrator for departmental systems
Maintains the inventory of all software licenses for the department; estimate and track annual maintenance costs
Creates and runs regular and special reports. Validates downloads of reporting files
Produces monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports
Promotes safety and environmental awareness by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations, spills, and accidents; following University safety plans/procedures/protocols; and participating in appropriate safety training
Performs basic system monitoring and log review for security systems, escalating issues as needed
Provides assistance during scheduled system maintenance, upgrades, and after-hours responses when required
Installs, configures, and troubleshoots law enforcement technology systems including body-worn cameras, docking stations, wireless access points, and in-car video equipment to ensure operational readiness and data integrity
Provides support with security camera equipment, video management servers, access control bases and servers
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Associate's degree or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution
Two years of experience in a computer-related field
FBI background check
Must be eligible to work in secure and/or restricted-access facilities and demonstrate the ability to meet all compliance standards, including those mandated by grant funding agencies and site-specific security protocols
Valid driver's license and ability to drive UTSA vehicle
This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure
Knowledge of and/or experience with a wide variety of personal computer hardware and software
Knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs)
Knowledge of Windows desktop and laptop configuration, including imaging, patching, and user-profile management
Knowledge of basic server functions, shared drives, and printer configurations in a domain environment
Knowledge of information security best practices and principles of data confidentiality
Skill in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktops, peripherals, and software applications
Skill in documenting procedures, tracking work orders, and maintaining accurate asset inventories
Ability to follow written and verbal technical instructions precisely
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with users, vendors, and technical staff
Ability to learn new technologies and adapt quickly to changes in systems or procedures
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and escalate issues appropriately
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
