Responsibilities

Conducting hands on mechanical testing using a variety of laboratory techniques to determine material properties and design limitations
Developing test plans and test setups for unique hardware configurations
Assessing materials based on conformance to specifications
Assessing parts and hardware relative to structural analyses and conformance to design requirements
Collaborating with a multi-disciplined team
Work will require careful attention to detail
Due to the physical nature of the work, qualified candidates must also be able to lift, up to 28lbs
Managing and coordinating a wide variety of analysis tasks within schedule requirements

Required

Typically requires a Bachelor in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 6+ years of experience. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience
Experience in Instron or MTS load frames
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Secret - Current security clearance
Due to the physical nature of the work, qualified candidates must also be able to lift, up to 28lbs

Preferred

Fundamental principles of Mechanical Engineering with comprehensive knowledge in mechanics of materials
Hands-on mechanically inclined problem solver
Familiarity with stress/structural analysis
Proficiency with instrumentation and data acquisition equipment
Experience with LabView, MatLAB, and PTC Creo
Understanding of ASTM test methods for mechanical testing
Experience with general material testing/analysis using laboratory equipment
Ability to write concise technical reports summarizing analyses
Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Strong communication, interpersonal, planning and time management skills
ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
