Wake County Public School System is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all Building Automation Systems throughout the district. The Master Craftsman in Energy Management will work closely with operators to troubleshoot and maintain HVAC systems and building automation systems.

Responsibilities

Performs experienced or master craftsman level work associated with building automation systems, materials, equipment, and fixtures

Responds to assigned work orders relating to energy management and HVAC

Troubleshoots appropriate corrective measures and performs work to provide a solution

Replaces faulty or defective building automation equipment and systems

Monitors and adjusts building automation software to ensure efficient operation equipment and compliance with energy policies

Prepares and maintains records, work logs, and reports, as needed

Adheres to laws, regulations, and requirements set forth in the WCPSS Safety procedures/policies

Maintains compliance and adherence to all safety procedures, occupational health practices, and maintains a safe work environment

Performs other related duties, as assigned

Required

Considerable knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC systems, equipment, and fixtures

Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel; Google Apps

Working knowledge of computers and electronic hardware, software, and programming

Working knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards

Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback

Ability to work independently and part of a team and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction

Ability to perform arithmetic calculations

Ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on building automation systems

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, contractors, vendors, and external agencies

High school diploma or equivalent

Five years of experience directly related to the field of building automation and control, energy management, and large-scale, multi-building HVAC systems

Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of NC requirements

Within 12 months of employment complete safety training according to OSHA standards
