Psychiatrist, Clinical Assistant Professor, Psychiatry, Adult, Child, & Adolescent Outpatient (OPD)

Stony Brook University is undergoing significant growth in its outpatient Psychiatry program to meet the increasing demand for psychiatric care for young adults and pediatric patients. The Clinical Assistant Professor will serve as an Attending Psychiatrist, providing care and conducting evaluations for children, adolescents, and young adults in both urgent and routine settings.

Responsibilities

Conducting diagnostic evaluations and providing short-term psychiatric care for children, adolescents and young adults in an outpatient setting
Collaborating with local school districts to provide consultation, ensuring integration of educational and clinical efforts for students
Interfacing with leadership and interdisciplinary team daily to ensure success of the program and services
Teaching and supervising medical students, residents, and fellows
Opportunities for clinical research in psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment are also available

Required

Psychiatry MD/DO degree (or foreign equivalent)
Board Certification or Eligibility in General Psychiatry
Eligibility for New York State medical licensure
Comfort conducting psychiatric evaluations in-person and through a virtual platform

Preferred

Board Certification or Eligibility in Child and Adolescent General Psychiatry
Clinical experience in a Psychiatric Emergency setting or Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Outpatient Program, including school consultation
Clinical experience working with patients with Substance Use Disorders
Strong interest or proven track record in research related to young adults, child and adolescent psychiatry
Strong communication skills, personable approach, and ability to interact with patients, families and school personnel on a daily basis
Flexible approach to meeting the changing needs of youth and young adults in our communities
Teaching experience
