Lighting Controls Technician

Premier Network Solutions is seeking a Lighting Controls Technician responsible for programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining lighting control systems in various environments. The role involves ensuring efficient operation of lighting systems while collaborating with project managers and engineers to deliver high-quality performance.

Information Technology & Services

Responsibilities

Install lighting control hardware including sensors, dimmers, relays, networked controllers, user interfaces, and low-voltage devices
Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, risers, and control system schematics
Ensure installations meet NEC, local codes, and manufacturer best practices
Program and configure lighting control systems (e.g., DMX, DALI, 0–10V, networked control platforms)
Perform system testing, calibration, and functional verification
Adjust system settings to meet design intent and customer requirements
Diagnose and repair issues in lighting networks, sensors, control panels, and communication protocols
Perform preventative maintenance on installed systems
Provide on-site and remote technical support
Work with project managers and electricians to ensure smooth installation and turnover
Communicate system status, issues, and updates clearly to stakeholders
Document system configurations, settings, and changes
Train end-users on system operation and interfaces
Provide detailed reports and user guides as needed

Required

Strong understanding of electrical systems, low-voltage wiring, and lighting technologies
Experience with lighting control platforms (e.g., Lutron, Crestron, ETC, Acuity, nLight, Philips/Signify, Leviton, or similar)
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and control diagrams
Proficiency in basic networking concepts (IP addressing, routers, switches, etc.) preferred
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Excellent communication and customer-service skills
Valid driver's license; ability to travel to job sites

Preferred

Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, electronics, automation, or related field
Journeyman or low-voltage electrical experience
Manufacturer certifications (Lutron, Crestron, ETC, nLight, etc.)
Experience with building automation or AV control systems
