Responsibilities
Understanding of PostgreSQL Architecture : Strong grasp of PostgreSQL architecture and internal components
Backup and Restore Strategies : Hands-on experience with logical and physical backup and restore strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
Version Upgrades (7%): Proven experience in performing minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades
Database Replication and High-Availability Extensive experience with database replication and high-availability solutions
Database Operations Responsible for day-to-day database operations, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting (CPU load, locks, blocking, long-running queries, etc.)
Configuration and Performance Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration parameters, system catalogs, and performance views
Maintenance Activities: Experience with routine database maintenance activities (vacuum, analyze, reindex, patching)
Cloud-Based Deployments : Hands-on exposure to cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments on AWS (RDS/EC2) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
HADR Tools : Strong experience with HADR tools such as Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest
Containerization and Orchestration : Solid hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes
Scripting Skills (7%): Strong scripting skills in Shell and/or Python for automation and monitoring
High-Performance Databases Proven experience administering multi-terabyte, high-performance production databases
Learning and Adaptability: Ability to independently learn, adapt, and implement new technologies
Communication and Collaboration : Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams
Database Infrastructure Design Experience in designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical database infrastructure with high transaction volumes
