Responsibilities

You have a JD from an accredited law school
You are actively barred in the State of Maryland
You have 2+ years of family law experience, ideally to include complex-asset and/or complex-custody litigation matters
You have prepared and tried a wide variety of family law matters in the Circuit Court (before Magistrates and/or Judges) as well as peace/protective order matters in both the District and Circuit Courts
Substantial second-chair experience alongside respected lead counsel would be considered
Alternatively, you have substantial litigation experience (approximately 3+ years) in a complimentary area of the law (i.e. civil, criminal, trusts and estates, real estate, etc.) and desire to shift and focus your practice both family law and/or have an articulable plan to bring your specific skillset to the firm and build out a new practice area to capitalize on the same
You have extensive experience drafting pleadings, motions, marital settlement agreements, judgments, discovery, and other relevant documents, and take pride in your written work product showing attention to detail, grammar, tone, and format
You have exceptional communication and negotiation skills and are an effective and persuasive oral advocate
You are comfortable with high-contact, client-facing, legal practice and have a deep understanding of the value of top-notch client service
You are comfortable managing litigation matters from potential client interview through settlement or trial
You have demonstrated the ability to convert consultations to active clients
You are familiar with the demands of a small, busy, and client-facing boutique firm environment and have the appropriate organizational skills, ability to think quickly, and act with confidence required to thrive therein
You have a portable book of business, or you are ready for the chance to rapidly build your own book of business if given the opportunity and support
You enjoy continuously learning and studying the law and strive to become an expert in your area/s of concentration
You value participation in Bar Association activities and other professional organizations (MSBA, Women’s Bar Association of Maryland, Maryland Hispanic Bar Association, Harford County Bar Foundation, etc.)
You have strong critical thinking skills and take the reins with determination and focus when given an assignment or when tackling a novel or complex legal issue
You have strong critical thinking skills, emotional intelligence and a sense of humor
You are willing to work creatively within the law when opportunities arise with the goal of achieving a desired outcome in an efficient and effective manner
