We are seeking a highly skilled, entrepreneurial Senior Water Systems Engineer to lead the Engineering portion of our Water Division, focusing on developing and executing water distribution optimization projects.

Responsibilities
Manage and oversee water distribution optimization projects from conception to completion
Complete water loss balances, AMI conversion evaluation, and SCADA system strategic plans
Provide technical leadership for analysis, optimization, and upgrade planning of existing water distribution systems
Oversee 3rd party contractors and data scientists on integration of data feeds (AMI, SCADA, etc.) via APIs to develop and deliver integrated dashboards and performance analytics
Work with Project Managers and Business Development personnel to develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and sub-contractor relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective project execution
Ensure compliance with local, state (TX), and federal regulations, codes, and industry standards
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including municipalities, utilities, and private-sector clients, to develop sustainable infrastructure solutions
Utilize data analytics to track and improve system performance and efficiency
Assist in the development of proposals, reports, and presentations for stakeholders
Qualification
Required
BS or MS in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in the state of Texas (required)
8–15+ years of experience in water infrastructure projects
Strong understanding of AMI metering and water distribution networks
SCADA experience focused on data access, historian integration, and operational analytics (not PLC programming or controls design)
Proficiency with hydraulic modeling platforms such as OpenFlows WaterGEMS / WaterCAD (Bentley), or equivalent
Familiarity with construction oversight, permitting processes, and regulatory compliance
Familiarity with TWDB funding sources and applications
Excellent communication and leadership skills—able to coordinate with diverse stakeholders
Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset and a desire to grow with a startup team
